Our Goals - Our Values

Who are we?

We are a small group of dedicated volunteers from different walks of life, men and women, young and old. We are active professionals, academics, business people, housewives, retirees, social activists and caregivers.

Our Vision

To develop sustainable, exemplary models in order to create a society that is at peace with its elders and to be the leading institution that implements these models.

Our Mission

  • Using the research, pioneering/exemplary studies and discussions we initiate, to support the right to a healthy and well-respected old age for everyone, to unite all around this cause, and to contribute to the development of social policies for the elderly population.

Our areas of work

  • Increasing awareness in Turkey around individual and social issues related to old age, including prudent and forward-looking planning for old age and the elderly society.
  • Increasing, spreading, and supporting awareness about necessary precautions and about the importance of holistic medicine, nutrition, active life, material and spiritual support for healthy aging.
  • Serving as a resource for policy development work on economic, political, social, psychological, spatial and other issues regarding the elderly.
  • Raising awareness for elderly rights and advocating on their behalf.
  • Supporting the best possible care for the elderly at home/in-place, in daycare centers, and in residential institutions by developing care models that are appropriate to traditions and needs.
  • Acting as a platform for tools, materials, expertise, information and other resources from both local and international sources that provide services to older people.
  • Providing and supporting the training of family members and professionals who care for the elderly in homes and institutions.
  • Collaborating with universities for research on aging and in developing sustainable alternatives for the support and care of older people.
  • Working in partnership with local and central government to ensure the provision of resources and capacity building for the private sector and non governmental organisations responsible for elderly care.
  • Facilitating cooperation with international organizations with similar missions

Our Approach

  • Intergenerational: Increasing the already strong intergenerational bonds and responsibilities in Turkey.
  • Adaptive: Tailoring our work to the changing needs of different subjects, from the aging individual to the aging society.
  • Interdisciplinary: Combining approaches, experiences and methods of medical and social sciences, entrepreneurs, legal professionals and philanthropists.
  • Inter-institutional: Bringing together family, community, state, private sector and civil society.
  • Non-Political: Remaining neutral towards any political approach, party or interest group.
  • Rights-based: Focusing on raising awareness of age-related rights and gender issues and combating age discrimination at individual and societal levels.
  • International: Using and contributing to the experience and knowledge of international organizations focused on elderly issues.
