One urgent need we identified in our field trips to the disaster zone was toilet/bathroom cabins suitable for the use of the elderly and disabled. With a grant from US based Turkish Philanthropy Funds we commissioned Practical Storage company to design a prototype of a cabin with an entrance and interior width suitable for use with wheelchairs, walkers and crutches, with a chair for sitting and washing, and with sturdy handles for support on the sides of the toilet bowl. Next, six toilet/bathroom cabins were sent to Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş and Hatay provinces to be installed in tent/container cities determined with the Ministry of Family and Social Services. In total, 18 toilet/bathroom stalls were made available to earthquake victims in 15 different tent/container cities.
